In the late 80’s, there were some new superheroes taking over and now almost 30 years later, The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are still as popular as ever and even have a new movie coming out. Thanks to my little brother, I was introduced to the turtles and honestly what was there not to love? Teenage crime beating, pizza loving turtles named after renaissance era artists who lived with a giant rat sensei named Splinter. My 10 year old self loved the totally bodacious language the heroes in a half shell used. So maybe in the late eighties we all wanted to talk like surfers from California, it was like cool, ok. I openly admit to still saying things like awesome way too much but it is all good. Just like the fact that I can be a totally tubular mom now since I grew up with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and can have conversations about the turtles with my own kids now.

One of those conversations is about the new movie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows that will be in theaters June 3rd. The movie is on my kiddos want to go see list. Having 4 kids, that is a lot of money to spend on tickets so I am always looking for ways to save and I have an easy way to get a free ticket to the movie. All you have to do is buy any 2 participating Tyson®, Ball Park®, State Fair®, or Jimmy Dean® products at Walmart, snap a picture of your receipt, and get a movie ticket. These products can be found in the freezer section and will have a special “peelie” on them promoting the deal.

Since my kids aren’t Ninja Turtles I can’t allow them to live solely on pizza as much as they would love it. I picked up some Ball Park® Flame Grilled Patties and Tyson® Crispy Chicken Strips to turn into burgers and wraps. My kids are constantly as hungry as the Ninja Turtles and these products help make a quality, protein snack solution.  An added plus is they can make these themselves with little effort. I just have to make sure they have the things they need to make their foodie creations like my Easy Garlic Basil Aioli.

Depending on the type, an aioli is pretty much a fancy name for mayonnaise with garlic. The problem with making these from scratch is often the raw egg. My easy garlic basil aioli bypasses that by starting with a prepared mayonnaise that is transformed in minutes.

The ingredient list is simple: mayo, basil, garlic, fresh lemon juice and dijon mustard.

Using a blender or food processor, Add your basil leaves, garlic and lemon juice and chop them up like you are making pesto.

To begin a good rough chop is good. We are pre chopping the leaves so when we add the mayo and mustard we don’t over mix things.

Once you have your initial chop done add your mayo and mustard and process until things are nice and smooth. A word about mayo and whipped salad dressing, though. I know many people have their favorites. I use mayo for some things and salad dressing for others and then some things whatever I have on hand. For this recipe I use mayo because the flavor profile of salad dressing is different and it will change the final flavor of your aioli.

Be careful not to over blend. Mayonnaise is an emulsion and it can break down, even when being careful not to over blend. You are then left with a watery mix. If this happens do not fear, your aioli can be saved! Add a cup of mayonnaise to a bowl and stream in the watery aioli and carefully whisk until well blended.

Now all is left is to make some tasty Italian style burgers and wraps!

For the wraps I take a 1-2 chicken strips (prepared per package instructions), whole wheat tortilla, spring greens, diced roma tomatoes, diced fresh mozzarella and build the wrap and drizzle the aioli on top.

Next up were the burgers!

I prepared the patty per package instructions and built my burger on a ciabatta bun topped with slices of fresh mozzarella, roma tomatoes, spring greens and drizzled with the aioli.

I don’t know about you but that burger was saying eat me! I really wish I could have.

I love the fact that I could turn simple ingredients into something amazing.

What do you think? Do you think the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would give up their pizza for my Italian inspired burgers and wraps with Garlic Basil Aioli? They wouldn’t be waiting around as long for their pizza to arrive if they made it themselves. Plus it is abprotein snack solution that would keep them full and ready the next time Shredder causes trouble. My kiddos think they are keepers and love making them themselves. I think I will be keeping some Ball Park® Flame Grilled Patties and Tyson® Crispy Chicken Strips in my freezer for when they need a high quality and low effort snack. It may be good idea for them to fill up before we head out to see the new movie!

What is your favorite way to make Ball Park® Flame Grilled Patties and Tyson® Crispy Chicken?
