Twenty years ago the internet became a tastier place because Allrecipes.com was born. The website has changed bit by bit over the years. Today, there is not only a website but a smartphone app and a magazine. These improvements and more have made the website what it is today.  Allrecipes is a go to resource for cooks by cooks, complete with almost any recipe imaginable.

Happy 20th Birthday Allrecipes

If you have never heard the story of Allrecipes you may be surprised, the website was not always called Allrecipes.com. The website started in 1997 as an experiment. It all started with a craving for a cookie and a college student, Allrecipes founder Tim Hunt. He and his friends thought this internet thing would be a good way to swap recipes. They started other food websites and eventually linked them all together and created Allrecipes.com.  Allrecipes has, “grown organically to become the world’s largest food-focused social network with a community of 85 million home cooks consuming 3 billion pages annually of food inspiration across our 19 sites serving 24 countries in 12 languages.”    That’s a lot of good food!

I have been a member of Allrecipes since 2001. Well, that is when I finally created my account. Along the way, I have interacted with the Allrecipes community in a variety of ways and have had a few interesting opportunities. In 2011, I was asked to be part of a new program they were starting and became one of their original brand ambassadors, an Allrecipes Allstar.  As a brand ambassador, I am not paid for what I do with but, we get to work with different brands/products and sometimes we are given small gifts as well. We will make, review, and photograph different recipes and sometimes come up with new recipes. We find out about what is new with Allrecipes first and even have some input on changes being made. I have also been able to travel to the different Allrecipes and Meredith Corporation headquarters for different events.

In 2012, we went to Seattle and celebrated Allrecipes 15th birthday!

In 2015, we went to New York City to Meredith’s, Allrecipes Magazines headquarters.

In 2016 we went to Des Moines, Iowa, to Meredith headquarters.

We had a ton of fun in Iowa. We were able to work in their test kitchens, which was an amazing experience.

We even worked on a photo shoot.

The whole experience in Iowa was amazing! It was a foodies dream. Plus I love getting together with my other Allstars friends!

This year the Allrecipes ambassadors have been invited to go back to Iowa in September! Does anyone want to buy my plane ticket? Now accepting sponsors, for well, everything.
